- Why is my car overheating?
- Overheating usually traces back to low coolant from a leak, a failing water pump, a stuck thermostat, a clogged radiator, or a fan that is not running. - Is it safe to drive with an overheating engine?
- No, you should not keep driving an overheating engine. The heat can warp parts, blow a head gasket, or crack the engine, and those are far more expensive than the original problem. - How much does radiator repair cost?

- What color is coolant, and what is leaking under my car?
- Coolant is usually green, orange, or pink and often has a sweet smell, which helps tell it apart from oil or other fluids. A puddle of any of those colors under the front of the vehicle is a sign of a cooling system leak. Bring it in and we will pressure-test the system to pinpoint where it is coming from.
- How do I know if my water pump is failing?
- A failing water pump can leak coolant near the front of the engine, make a whining or growling noise, or let the engine overheat because it is no longer moving coolant well. Sometimes you will see coolant residue around the pump itself. We can inspect it and confirm whether the pump is the cause of your overheating.
- Why is my heater blowing cold air?
- In winter, cold air from the heater often comes from a cooling system issue, since the heat in your cabin comes from hot coolant flowing through the heater core. Low coolant, a stuck-open thermostat, or a clogged heater core are common culprits. We diagnose the cooling system to find which one it is and get your heat working again.
- What does a thermostat do, and how do I know it is bad?
- The thermostat regulates engine temperature by controlling coolant flow, opening when the engine warms up and staying closed until then. If it sticks closed, the engine overheats; if it sticks open, the engine may run cool and your heater may underperform. We can test it and replace it if it is the problem.
- Should I get a coolant flush along with the repair?
- Often it makes sense. Coolant breaks down over time and old or contaminated coolant can lead to corrosion and clogging, so if your fluid is old or dirty a flush and refill protects the parts we just serviced. We will let you know the condition of your coolant and whether a flush is worth doing while we are in there.
- Can a small coolant leak really cause big problems?
- Yes. A slow leak lowers the coolant level over time, and once it gets low enough the engine can overheat, which is where the expensive damage starts. Catching a small leak early, at a hose, the cap, or a fitting, is much cheaper than dealing with an overheated engine later. That is why we recommend addressing leaks sooner rather than waiting.
