Our namesake

Exhaust is right there in our name, and it is what we do best.

If your exhaust got loud, started rattling, or rusted through, we have an exhaust specialist who can repair it or replace it the right way.

Muffler & Exhaust Replacement in Cortland, OH, at Super Tire & Muffler

Super Tire & Muffler has been working on exhaust systems in Cortland since 1980, and it is still core to who we are. We keep a dedicated exhaust specialist on staff and we bend, fit, and weld pipe right here in the shop, so we are not limited to whatever bolt-on part a parts store happens to stock.

Northeast Ohio winters are hard on exhaust systems. Road salt eats at mufflers, pipes, and hangers from the underside, and a system that looked fine last fall can rust through by spring. When you bring your vehicle in, we put it on the lift, find exactly where the problem is, and call you with what it needs.

Sometimes the fix is a single section of pipe or a new muffler, and sometimes the whole system is gone and it makes more sense to replace it. Either way you get a written estimate and a straight explanation of why. We do not upsell parts you do not need.

What we do

  • Full exhaust inspection on the lift, from the manifold back to the tailpipe
  • Muffler, resonator, and tailpipe replacement
  • Custom pipe bending and welding for sections that are not sold as a stock part
  • Exhaust hanger, clamp, and gasket replacement
  • Repair of small leaks and rust holes where the rest of the pipe is still solid
  • Custom and performance exhaust builds
  • A written estimate. Work starts on your go-ahead

Signs you need this

  • Your vehicle got noticeably louder, especially on startup or under acceleration
  • A rattle or buzz from underneath that changes with engine speed
  • A low droning sound inside the cabin at highway speed
  • A rotten-egg or exhaust smell making it into the car
  • Visible rust, holes, or a hanging pipe under the vehicle
  • Reduced power or fuel economy along with the noise

Parts we service & replace

  • Mufflers

Repair or replace?

Not every exhaust problem means a whole new system. If the pipe is solid and only a clamp, hanger, or gasket failed, we fix that. If a single section rusted through but the rest is healthy, our specialist can cut in a new piece and weld it, which is often cheaper than a full replacement.

When the rust is widespread, replacing piecemeal just means you are back in a few months for the next section. In that case we call you, go over what is gone, and give you a written estimate for the full job so you can decide.

Custom and performance exhaust

Because we bend and weld our own pipe, we can do more than a stock replacement. If you want a different sound, a freer-flowing setup, or a specific muffler on a car or truck, we can build it to fit. Tell us the sound and the goal you are after and we will lay out the options and give you an estimate up front.

Common questions

Muffler & Exhaust Replacement, answered.

The questions we hear most about muffler & exhaust replacement in Cortland and Trumbull County.

Why is my car suddenly so loud?
The most common cause is a hole or crack in the muffler or exhaust pipe, often from rust. A loud, deeper tone usually points to the muffler or a pipe behind it, while a louder sound right at startup can mean a leak closer to the engine. Bring it in and we will put it on the lift, find the exact spot, and call you with the fix.
Can you just repair my exhaust instead of replacing the whole thing?
Often, yes. If the rest of the system is solid and only one section, a hanger, or a clamp failed, we repair that. Because we weld our own pipe in-house, we can patch or splice a section rather than forcing you into a full replacement. We only recommend replacing the whole system when the rust is widespread enough that piecemeal repairs will not last.
How much does a muffler replacement cost?
It depends on your vehicle, which parts of the system are involved, and whether we can repair a section or need to replace more of it. We put your vehicle on the lift, find the problem, and call you with a written estimate. The work starts when you say go. Call us at (330) 638-7600 and we are glad to talk it through.
Do I need an emissions test or E-Check to get exhaust work done in Trumbull County?
No. Trumbull County is not in Ohio's E-Check area, so there is no local emissions test required to drive your vehicle or to have exhaust work done. We fix exhaust problems because a loud, leaking, or rusted-out system is a comfort and safety issue, not because of any test.
Why do mufflers rust out so fast around here?
Northeast Ohio uses a lot of road salt in winter, and salt spray sits on the underside of your exhaust where it stays damp. That accelerates rust from the outside, while moisture inside the system works on it too. It is the main reason exhaust systems in Cortland and Trumbull County tend to wear out sooner than the rest of the vehicle.
Is it bad to drive with a hole in my exhaust?
A loud exhaust will not strand you on the road, but it is worth fixing sooner rather than later. A leak ahead of the muffler can let exhaust fumes reach the cabin, which you do not want, and a hanging or dragging pipe can be a hazard. A leak can also throw off the readings the engine relies on. Get it looked at and we will tell you straight how urgent it is.
Can you make my truck or car sound a certain way?
Yes. Since we bend and weld our own pipe, we can build a custom or performance exhaust to get the sound and flow you want, rather than only installing an off-the-shelf part. Tell us what you are going for and we will lay out the options and give you a written estimate first.
What is that droning sound on the highway?
A low drone inside the cabin at steady highway speed often comes from a failing muffler or resonator, or from a small exhaust leak that resonates through the body. Sometimes it is a loose heat shield buzzing along. We can pin down the source on the lift and tell you whether it is a quick fix or a worn-out component.
Do you work on exhaust for all makes and models?
Yes. We are a NAPA Auto Care Center and we work on all makes and models, domestic and import, from passenger cars through light and medium trucks and vans. Because we fabricate pipe in-house, we can handle exhaust on vehicles where a pre-made part is hard to find.
Do I need an appointment, or can I just stop in?
Walk-ins are welcome and we are happy to take a look. Booking an appointment usually cuts your wait time, especially if it is a bigger job. We are open Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturday 8am to noon, and you can reach us at (330) 638-7600.
