What affects the cost of a muffler replacement?
Answered by Super Tire & Muffler · Updated June 19, 2026
Short answer
Muffler cost depends on your vehicle, how much of the exhaust is rusted (just the muffler, or pipes and hangers too), and whether you want a standard replacement or a custom performance setup. Because we bend and weld pipe in-house, we can often repair only the failed section rather than replacing the whole system. We inspect it on a lift and give a free written estimate.
What drives the number
A bolt-in muffler on a common vehicle is the simplest case. Rust that has spread to the pipes, flanges, or hangers adds parts and labor. Custom or performance exhaust costs more because of the materials and fabrication time.
Our advantage is in-house welding: if only one section has rusted through, we can replace that piece instead of selling you a full system you do not need.
