What should I bring to an auto repair appointment?

Answered by Super Tire & Muffler · Updated June 19, 2026

Short answer

Bring your vehicle, your key, and any details about the problem: when it happens, what it sounds or feels like, and any warning lights. If you have service records or know of an active recall, bring those too. For a specific repair, your wheel-lock key (for tire work) and a note of recent work help. You do not need much; clear symptoms help us diagnose faster.

What actually helps us

The single most useful thing is a clear description of the symptom: a noise that happens only when turning, a vibration that starts at highway speed, a light that flashes versus stays steady. Those clues shorten the diagnosis.

For tire and wheel work, the wheel-lock key (if your vehicle has locking lug nuts) saves time. Service records help on a vehicle that is new to us.
