These three get blamed for each other all the time. A battery that needs jumping might actually have a dead cell, or the alternator might not be charging it. - How do I know if I need a new battery?

- How long does a car battery last?
- Most batteries last somewhere around three to five years, but cold Ohio winters and lots of short trips can shorten that. Heat is hard on them too. We can test yours to see how much life is left so a failure does not catch you by surprise.
- Is it the battery, the starter, or the alternator?
- They can feel the same, which is why we test. A slow crank or a need for jumps often points to the battery, a click with no crank can be the starter, and a charge warning light usually means the alternator. We check the whole system so you replace the right part.
- My battery light is on. What does that mean?
- The battery or charge light usually means the charging system, often the alternator, is not keeping the battery topped up, not that the battery itself is bad. If it comes on while driving, get it checked soon, because the vehicle is running on battery power. Bring it in and we will test it.
- Why do my battery terminals keep corroding?
- That white or blue buildup comes from a normal reaction at the terminals, but heavy corrosion can mean a loose connection, an aging battery, or a charging issue. It adds resistance and can cause hard starts. We clean the terminals, check the cables, and look at why it is happening.
- Can you replace my battery while I wait?
- In most cases, yes. Once we confirm the battery is the problem and not the charging system, we can usually swap it the same day. Walk-ins are welcome, and we will get you back on the road as quickly as we can.
- My car needs a jump every morning. What is going on?
- A battery that keeps dying overnight is either worn out, not getting charged by the alternator, or being drained by something staying on. That last one is called a parasitic draw. We test the battery and charging system and check for a draw to find the real cause.
